Morgan-Smith to return for Wrexham clash?

STRIKER Amari Morgan-Smith could be a shock inclusion in the Hatters squad for their Blue Square Bet Premier play-off semi-final first leg clash against Wrexham tomorrow evening, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 23-year-old forward has netted 10 goals in 19 appearances this season, but hasn’t featured since the 0-0 draw against Mansfield on January 25.

Although Morgan-Smith has suffered a number of setbacks in his recovery and hasn’t played any kind of football since the Stags stalemate, Buckle said: “Adrenalin plays a big part and there’s no bigger game that what we’re in now.

“Amari has come through sessions, he’s done ever so well.

“He’s worked really hard, I wanted him to be right for the Fleetwood game, but it didn’t happen.

“Certainly now I’ve seen him in training, he’s desperate to be involved and he’s got a chance.

“I like forwards, I like to be entertaining and want to go and attack.

“Having Amari Morgan-Smith back would be a big, big plus for us.

“I’ve got my fingers crossed that we have no reaction and that’s credit to the physio, Simon (Parsell), he’s done a great job.

“It will give us all a massive lift, not that we need one, but it will give us a huge lift.”

The news isn’t quite so good for young midfielder Godfrey Poku though as he is still feeling the effects of the poor challenge he received at Gateshead.

Buckle added: “We’ve got a little bit of a problem with him.

“The boy looks gutted that he might not make it, absolutely gutted and that’s a really good sign.

“He was ever so upset and it pleases me because it shows the manager that you care and there’s a lot of care here.

“It wasn’t a fantastic challenge on him, but he’s a strong boy and if anyone’s got a chance of getting back he has.”
