Money talks Luton as Hatters hit form

Former Town boss Richard Money has dismissed the Hatters’ barnstorming unbeaten run that has taken them to within striking distance of the Skrill Premier leaders, writes Geoff Knox.

The Cambridge manager also insisted that he is gutted that Saturday’s league showdown against the Hatters has been postponed.

Both promotion-chasing clubs have FA Trophy commitments this weekend, so Town’s crunch trip to the Abbey Stadium has been shelved until the New Year.

Money bossed Luton for 17 months before his acrimonious departure in March 2011, and it is clearly evident that the even the mere mention of the L-word still gets the 58-year-old’s back up.

Speaking after Cambridge’s FA Cup second round defeat against Sheffield United on Sunday, said: “The team we are talking about, who won yesterday, has an average gate of 6,500 and pay their players League One salaries.

“We are in equally as good form. They’ve gone 14 games unbeaten. Well done, but you are just doing your jobs.”
