Money rant dismissed by Hatters

Hatters assistant boss Terry Harris laughed off Cambridge manager Richard Money’s claims Luton Town were the Manchester City of the Skrill Premier, writes Mike Simmonds.

Speaking to the press last week, Money stated that the Conference had become an uneven playing field with Town in it, due to the supposed size of their resources.

The former Luton chief also went on to say that if his U’s team aren’t crowned champions, he was ‘desperate’ for Luton to go up, to give the rest of the league a fighting chance in future campaigns.

When asked about the magnitude of Town’s spending power, Harris said: “We’ve brought it (the budget) down drastically, but that’s something we keep in-house anyway.

“We just go about our job, and whatever other clubs say is entirely down to them, we keep our thoughts to ourselves as well.”

Harris also felt that most clubs would want to see Town remain in the Conference, due to their magnificent travelling support that more often than not provides teams with their biggest gate of the season.
