Millwall tie a return to the good old days for Brill

Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Millwall will be just like going back in time for Town keeper Dean Brill, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 27-year-old came through the ranks with Luton and was part of the Hatters’ side who were in the Championship, League One and League Two..

He also between the posts the last time the Lions visited Kenilworth Road, a 1-1 draw in February 2008 when both sides were in League One.

Speaking about the clash, Brill said: “I enjoy these atmosphere, it’s what I grew up with. The last time Luton played Millwall, I was playing.

“As much as you’re used to them, it’s still nice when they come about especially when we haven’t had too many of them lately.

“We get 6,7,000 people on a Blue Square game which is unheard of. So to be playing a team three leagues higher than us, it will be rocking and it’s how I remember it.

“I remember telling a few of the lads, this is what it used to be like. The boys are looking forward to it and it does give them a massive lift.

“It’s not going to be alien to all of them, but it does freshen memories and you can think, this is where we want to be.

“It’s a great competition to be involved in, everyone watches it. They say romance of the cup has died, I don’t think it has, it’s very much here.”

After knocking out Wolves and Norwich in previous rounds, some fans believe Town have every chance of making the quarter-finals against a Millwall side who have struggled for form recently.

Brill added: “I think in this sort of competition you don’t looked further than the next game, we we didn’t look past Norwich, didn’t look past Wolves.

“It shows if we do well and are organised which we will be, we’re more than a match for anybody.

“I’m sure the manager and staff will highlight certain areas where they’re strong or weak, but mainly it will be about our lads, how we perform and our gameplan.”
