Mills proud of Heed as they keep Luton out

Although the Tynesiders saw their run of five consecutive victories ended, Mills was pleased with the progress it demonstrated the club have made under his stewardship.

He said: “It shows how far we’ve come that we play a team near the top of the table and there’s some disappointment that we only drew.

“But don’t get me wrong, I’m really happy with the players. I guess you have this feeling when you get used to winning every week.

“Of course scoring goals is vital but keeping clean sheets is a great habit to get into. It means, whoever you play, you know you’re capable of getting a result.”
