McNulty unfazed by managerial changes at Luton

A change in boss had seen the defender fall out of favour at former club Fleetwood Town before joining the Hatters, but he’s not unduly concerned by the decision.

With new boss John Still coming in, McNulty admitted there is an onus on the players to perform and impress, saying: “Of course there is. It happened to me at Fleetwood. A new boss comes in and everyone starts with a clean slate.

“It just didn’t work out for me there and he wanted different things.

“But the same happens here, everyone comes in, he’s (Still) told them he’s going to be giving every single player in the squad a chance to see what they can do and prove themselves to him. It’s great for everyone.

McNulty has had to play with a number of different partners since joining Luton, including Lathaniel Rowe-Turner, Janos Kovacs, Wayne Thomas and Jake Goodman.

While he would like a consistent partner, he knows they all have their own qualities

“It’s not difficult at all, they are all good players that have come in and played alongside me and they make my job easy,” said McNulty.

“It’s always nice to get settled with a partner and get a good run of games. I thought that was going to happen with Tommo (Wayne Thomas) but it never did. Everyone who comes to Luton is a good player so it makes no odds.”

McNulty and his team-mates are refusing to get worked up about falling behind in the race for the play-offs either, adding: “We’re not thinking about it, if it happens, it happens. I came here and that’s what I was looking at, to get in the play-offs, or even win it automatically.

“Until someone comes to us as a team and tells us it’s not mathematically possible we’re going to still keep believing we can make it and I think everyone else should do that.”
