McNulty unfazed about captain’s armband

Town defender Steve McNulty is confident that whether he has the captain’s armband or not, it won’t change the way he plays, writes Mark Wood.

With club captain Ronnie Henry missing much of the tail-end of the season due to an impending a hernia operation, the Liverpudlian assumed the responsibility he had at former club Fleetwood Town.

He even retained the captaincy when Henry returned for a one-off game towards the end of the season, but threw his weight behind Henry saying: “As far as I’m concerned Ronnie is the club captain. Nothing’s been discussed and I don’t expect anything to be discussed.”

On McNulty’s impact since joining, boss John Still added: “He has shown good leadership qualities in the absence of Ronnie Henry, his enthusiasm has been fantastic.”
