Having lived his entire life on Merseyside the decision will have a big impact on the 29-year-old.

He said: “I will have to get a base down in Luton.

“It’s the first time I’ve moved away from Merseyside so it was a little bit different at first.

Having been signed by former boss Paul Buckle from Fleetwood Town at the end of January, McNulty made a big impact with his no nonsense defending, netting once in 20 appearances.

He admitted it was an easy decision to stay once boss John Still decided he wanted to keep his services.

“The manager wants me to stay, I’ve enjoyed my time here so it was a no-brainer.”

On McNulty’s permanent acquisition, Town manager John Still added: “Since I’ve been there I think Steve’s picked up what I want, I’ve been really pleased.

“He has adjusted to what I’m looking for and has been very consistent.”
