Hatters visit the U’s tomorrow afternoon, before hosting Harriers on Easter Monday as Martin said: “At this stage of the season, you don’t look at league tables, every game is a must win regarding of who you’re playing against.

“Personally I’d rather play teams above you as you raise your game, because you know you’re going to have to up your game.”

On Town’s fading play-off hopes, as going into the run-in they trail fifth-placed Grimsby by 10 points, Martin continued: “There’s plenty of games and plenty of points up for grabs, it’s not over until it’s over.

“It’s not in our hands, but we’ve got to keep winning and keep pressure on teams above.

“We’re starting to put in performances now, we kept another clean sheet (on Saturday) and it was another game we haven’t lost.

“Hopefully teams above us will be looking over their shoulder and see Luton Town are trying to kick on now, so we can try and get the points back before the end of the season.”

Town have still got eight games to play in under a month, but that didn’t worry Martin as he said: “Games come quick and fast which is what you want when you’re playing well.

“It’s good to keep momentum going. The quicker the games come the better. We just want to keep going and see what unfolds for end of the season.”

With Town selling over 700 tickets for the Cambridge clash, Martin knew what an important part the supporters have as he added: “The fans here are absolutely unbelievable and it’s a massive thing for a player.

“When they get behind you, it gives you that lift and it’s what you need to get across the line.
