His hat-trick in the 3-0 win over Nuneaton Town on Saturday moved Gray joint top of the division’s scoring charts with Halifax’s Lee Gregory on 17 for the season, while extending Town’s lead at the top of the standings to three points.

He said: “That would be great for me if I ended up being top scorer in the league and we ended up winning the league.

“That’s obviously the target for me as well, but I’m not really bothered about that as long as we get out of this league and I think we are in the best possible position to go it now and it’s in our hands.”
