Lawless to sign new Hatters deal

The midfielder, who is currently injured, has been one of the few shining lights for Hatters this campaign, becoming a firm favourite with supporters after a difficult second season at Kenilworth Road.

He has now made 119 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals and boss John Still said: “Alex Lawless will sign a new contract.

“At the moment, with the people that are out of contract, he will be signing one and talks on one or two others will happen over the next week now that I’ve got myself a little bit of a list on who can go.

“I’ve started the other process on doing that now as it’s only really been the last week that I’ve come to any decisions. Although I’ve not had any talks, I’ve spoken to people without sitting down and having proper talks.

“The way the games have come thick and fast, I’ll probably pick one day next week, maybe Wednesday where we won’t be training and find a slot and have a chat with them all and give you an update probably this time next week.”
