Lawless hoping to lay down a marker at Wrexham

BIG games against Wrexham on the TV tonight and York in the first leg of their FA Trophy semi-final clash on Saturday are of massive psychological importance to the Hatters, writes Mark Wood.

And no-one will be wanting to impress more than Welshman Alex Lawless who returns to his homeland tonight, before going back to face his former club York on Saturday, where he broke his hand when punching a wall at half time in Town’s 3-0 defeat earlier in the season.

He said: “They’ve (Wrexham) had a great season. We beat them in the play-offs last year’s and they’ll still have that in mind.

“It’s a massive psychological win if you can beat the top teams now and then you end up playing them in the play-offs.

“We’ve lost against three of the top four teams this season and it doesn’t sit right with any of us.”
