The 28-year-old received the Luton Town Supporters’ Club Player Of The Year trophy and also collected the Players’ Player Of The Year prize, as voted by his fellow team-mates.

Lawless had won the Loyal Luton and Bobbers Travel Player Of The Season awards last week and, speaking exclusively to the News/Gazette about his latest two honours, he said: “It was lovely to get the recognition from players and the supporters. It’s always nice to receive some personal accolades and all those things contribute to the confidence of a player and it’s especially nice after everything that has gone on.”

On the awards night, defender Steve McNulty admitted he had been going to opt for Jake Howells until discussions with his team-mates as he said: “The lads talked me out of it (voting for Howells).

“I asked the lads about the earlier part of the season as I hadn’t seen the first few games.

“When I came here I had a couple of knocks and didn’t play, so it was tough for me to pick, but I got a bit of advice from the lads.”
