Lawless deflated by York defeat

GETTING over the massive disappointment of not walking out at Wembley is going to be a tough one for Town midfielder Alex Lawless, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 29-year-old saw his hopes dashed at the weekend as Town were knocked out of the FA Trophy by York City, who netted a last-gasp equaliser to go through 2-1 on aggregate.

Lawless said: “I’m completely deflated. I know we’ve got games coming up, but this is going to take a few days to kind of deal with.

“There’s different characters in the team and people talking about the importance of the league, but personally, I think it’s going to be difficult to stomach for a few days.

“When you get back to training and realise when the next game is, you just have to focus. That’s what you’re paid to do.”
