Lafayette gets to live the dream after Hatters move

The Welling United forward put pen to paper on a two year deal last Wednesday to become Town’s second addition of the summer after defender Curtley Williams.

Lafayette, who has had to give up his job working as a digital sales manager at Channel Five, said: “I’ve always wanted to play professional football, I’ve just not been given that opportunity.

“Everything’s changed now, I’m having to move, quit my job, but as soon as I had the call from John (Still), there wasn’t much persuasion needed, I’m more than happy.

“It’s not often you get the opportunity and me being 28, I only want to succeed, I haven’t got time to rest on my laurels.”

Lafayette had been expected to sign for another year with the Wings, but confirmed the deal had yet to be signed and spurning Luton’s advances was never an option.

The forward has already made himself something of a fans’ favourite amongst the Town faithful after scoring a cracking against Luton in Hatters’ 2-1 win at Park View Road as well.
