KP urges Luton to mirror Southport

RECALLED goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington has urged his Luton Town side to follow the lead of Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Southport if they are to achieve their goal of promotion this season.

The Sandgrounders, for whom Luton duo Godfrey Poku and Dan Walker are both on loan at, have won 10 out of their last 14 league games, including a victory at Gateshead, to leapfrog the Hatters into the play-off places.

After knocking League Two Northampton Town out of the FA Cup on Saturday, Town showed what they are capable of and now Pilkington wants to see that in the league campaign.

He said: “We need to be more consistent. We need to put a run of wins together. Southport, where Godfrey’s been, have been flying and the wins they’ve had consecutively have been superb.”
