Kovacs returns to help out Hatters

HATTERS have snapped up former centre half Janos Kovacs on an emergency one month loan from Hereford United.

The Hungarian first signed for Town back in January 2010, making 16 appearances and netting two goals.

The 26-year-old left for Hereford in the summer and made 29 appearances last season, but has yet to feature this year.

Kovacs has made 182 appearance in five years in England and is likely to go straight into a Luton team shorn of five defenders, including Dean Beckwith, who is suspended for three games after his red card on Saturday.

Manager Gary Brabin told the club’s website: “It’s been well documented that we need more cover in defence and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring in Janos.

“He is a commanding, vocal defender who has vast experience and was the Hereford captain last season.

“Not only is he a great defender but he’s a real threat in the opponent’s penalty area.”

Kovacs has gone straight into the squad for the match at Twerton Park on Tuesday and will wear squad number 34.
