Kovacs: It was a season of massive ups and downs with Town

The 27-year-old was in and out of Town’s starting XI last term as at times he seemed to be made a scapegoat for Luton’s leaky defence and was released by new boss John Still at the tail-end of the campaign.

Having helped the Hatters to cause the biggest shock of the season when they triumphed 1-0 at Premier League Norwich City in the fourth round of the FA Cup, he was dropped just a week later for the 1-0 defeat at Barrow.

Kovacs said: “Personally I felt I had a good season with league games and FA Cup games as well.

“In January something changed. I don’t want to make negative comments on that part of the season.

“When I was left out at Barrow that was the lowest and hardest thing to take.

“It was just one week after the Norwich game and I can say in seven days I had my highest point in my footballing days and lowest one as well.”

Kovacs also believed the ‘rest’ he was given at the start of the campaign had done him good, while the rollercoaster season he’s experienced and shock exit has only made him stronger.
