Kovacs earns praise from boss Buckle

Hatters boss Paul Buckle reserved special praise for centre half Janos Kovacs after Town kept their first home clean sheet of the season on Saturday, writes Mike Simmonds.

The Hungarian had come in for some criticism by the boss after he was hauled off at half time when Luton were beaten 3-0 at Alfreton the previous weekend.

Buckle admitted to having words with the defender in the week as he said: “That’s how I want my centre-halves to perform, I told Janos that, I’m straight with the players.”

“Janos has a job to do and he looked the real deal, he was outstanding as him and Dean Beckwit played on the front foot.”
