Kovacs dreams of hitting the Bulls-eye against former club

The giant Hungarian centre-half admitted his stay had Edgar Street had been a frustrating a largely unhappy one and that he would love to score against the Bulls this evening.

He said: “I scored only two goals while I was there. Of course it would be a dream one to score against them.

“But I would be happy with just a good 1-0 win if somebody like Fleets (Stuart Fleetwood) or someone else scores. Just get the three points, but hopefully I can score.”

With Hereford experiencing some financial difficulties, Kovacs admitted he feels for his previous club - even though they are the furthest from his heart of his former teams.

He said: “At this I’m always feeling for my old clubs. As I always said I played for four or five different English clubs in my career.

“And I have to say Hereford is the only one which isn’t too close to my heart still after when I left.

“Lincoln is still very close to my heart, Chesterfield is still close to my heart, but Hereford. Of course I still care about what’s happening with them, but as I said, it’s a little bit of a disappointing year of my life when I was there.

“So hopefully I can go back there and get a good result.”

And he would love to put on a fine performance there to prove the Bulls were wrong to let him go so easily when he departed to return to Kenilworth Road.

He said: “I’ve got memories from there. Loads of memories, a few happy ones. I’m looking forward to going back and getting three points.

“It was part of my life. The only thing I can say about tomorrow is I’m buzzing to go back and get three points, get a good result and a good performance from myself as well.

“The most important thing was to prove myself there, they were wrong and then I’m happy that hopefully I did that.

“As I already said here now, I don’t want to get carried away go back and say I will show them again at their ground.

“It’s all about a good solid, steady performance in my eye, especially at my position so I don’t want to get carried away I just want to get a good result.”

Kovacs is unsure what kind of reception to expect and whatever it is, he will try and put it to one side.

He continued: “I don’t know, I’m looking forward to it. But to be fair I was thinking about it last night.

“I will try to close everything out from my head, from my mind about these and if any voice will come in I will not listen to it at all.

“I will just focus on my job which is to keep a clean sheet and get the three points.”

However, there are still a number of old faces at the club that he knows well.

“They’ve got Sean Canham who I know,” he said. “I played with him. I think he’s the only striker still there from my time.

“But I still knows loads of lads in midfield, in the backline as well. So a few old friends will be there.”

And he’s hoping that Town’s large army of travelling supporters will again be able to upstage the home crowd and that Luton may catch them still in celebration mode following their 3-1 victory over League One Shrewsbury in Saturday’s FA Cup first round tie.

Kovacs added: “They don’t have a massive crowd like we have so hopefully we can turn that ground into a home ground for us.

“Nothing special what you need to know about their ground, about the pitch or the area.

“In my eyes we just need to know that they had a good result first of all, they beat Shrewsbury 3-1 at the weekend.

“Hopefully we can go there ready to fight and they will be a little bit like still in a nightclub.”
