Kovacs deal’s still in limbo

TOWN’S hopes of extending Janos Kovacs’ stay at Kenilworth Road remain in limbo, writes Mark Wood.

Hatters boss Gary Brabin admitted he had hoped to have already tied up a deal for the giant Hungarian defender who has been as solid as a rock for Luton during his one-month loan spell.

That deal ran out this week and the Hatters chief admitted they are still no closer to finalising a deal for the 26-year-old centre-half, although they remain keen to do so.

Brabin said: “It’s pretty much the same. Hereford don’t want to loan him again as such, which we are looking to take further.

“At the moment we are in-between. We would like to keep him but there’s a few bridges we need to cross first and at the moment we are not near that.”
