Keane admits fortune favoured the brave

GOAL of the season contender Keith Keane admitted his audacious free-kick on Saturday had an element of luck about it, writes Mark Wood.

Keane, 25, who hadn’t netted since the 8-0 thrashing of Hayes & Yeading back in March 2010, was thrilled to have scored only the seventh goal of a career that numbers well over 250 senior appearances, but revealed there was an element of fortune about his 35-yarder.

He said: “When you get the balls in those situations it will be the same for most teams.

“You will normally aim for the back stick. If you underhit it people can get across the goalie and score.”
