The 22-year-old played five times for Wales U21s and is hoping the on-loan Norwich City youngster will make the most of it when he faces their Italian counterparts on Wednesday.

Howells said: “I just said to him enjoy it. It’s a great experience and enjoy each game as it comes.

“I think he’s got Italy and said just go and enjoy it, it’s a good level to play at and it’s great experience to have, especially in your career.

“Not a lot of people get to play internationals, so I said take it as it comes and enjoy yourselves.”

Striker Andre Gray and defender Fraser Franks will also be on England C duty that week in Jordan and boss John Still is proud of the recognition they are receiving.

He added: “It’s always nice when people get recognised so congratulations to them all.”
