Hatters youths fall to Orient defeat

Luton Town U18s slipped to a 2-0 defeat at League One Leyton Orient in their opening Football League Youth Alliance fixture of the season on Saturday.

Boss Paul Driver was unable to call upon the services of Brett Longden and Zane Banton, as both were suspended, while injuries ruled out Zak Stephens, Jemale McKenzie-Lowe and Jordan Davis. Charlie Smith’s elevation into the first team matchday squad, meant a number of trialists were given their chance.

The Os started strongly and opened up a 2-0 lead inside 12 minutes. Firstly, Affyi Obafemi broke clear of the defence and his goal-bound shot could not be stopped by Jerome Jibodu.

He then found space in the box to give Ben Barnes no chance with the finish.

Town tried to fight back, but couldn’t reduce the deficit as they came away with nothing.
