Hatters winger Martin to divulge Darts dossier

The 28-year-old winger played nine times during a three-month loan stay with the Darts and only returned to Luton’s ranks last Monday.

He said: “It is funny how it’s worked out, but my mind will be on it, I’m a Luton Town player and I’ll be willing Luton to win next week.

“I’ve been there a while, know a few of the players well so if he (John Still) asks me my opinion on people I will definitely be helping out to help the team.

“At the end of the day it’s just for us to win the game really, nothing to get up on anybody, we just need to keep winning between now and the end of the season.”

The Darts did Luton a massive favour at the weekend as they fought back from 2-0 down to draw 3-3 against Town’s promotion rivals Cambridge United and scupper their chances of going back top.

The U’s then slipped up again on Tuesday night as they lost at home for the first time all season, going down 2-1 to promotion rivals Grimbsy Town.

Martin continued: “Them slipping up gives us a boost because we are pulling away. All we can do is keep concentrating on ourselves and all around us will take care of itself as long as we keep winning and keep putting pressure on the other teams, eventually hopefully we’ll have a nice gap for us to just keep cracking on.”

And Martin is hopeful that that result will help his old team-mates to turn a corner.

“They’re doing really well now and it’s good to see them picking up some points in the new year,” he said.

“Obviously they’re right in it and it would be nice to see them pull out.

“It was a great result for them today and hopefully they won’t get a great result against us next week!”

Saturday’s game is already sold out for away supporters, with promotion-chasing Hatters having disposed of their bumper 1,500 allocation in double-quick time.

Darts will also be without Luton loan duo Alex Wall and Jim Stevenson who are currently at Princes Park.

Town striker Andre Gray is in no doubt the duo would prefer to be doing it for the Hatters and is fully focused in the job in hand.

He added: “We’re all in it together and I think both of them want to play here, but obviously with the squad we have it’s very tough competition and you have to stay on it all of the time and they’ve gone out to get games and they’re doing us a favour as well.

“We can only control what we do and if we keep doing that we’ll be out of this league.

“We’ve got nothing to worry about, we’ve just got to worry about ourselves and if we do that we’ll come out with three points again and keep pulling away.”
