Hatters win has Posh boss Ferguson hopping mad

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson was ‘disgusted and embarrassed’ after his second string team went down 3-0 to Luton reserves on Tuesday.

Posh had fielded a strong side on paper including first-team contenders Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, new signing Kane Ferdinand and Emile Sinclair, but they conceded an early goal before Luton added two more after the break.

Ferguson said: “We were embarrassing. In fact I was disgusted by the performance.

“We have these games for a reason and if I had been playing I’d have been busting a gut to impress the first-team manager.

“We had 10 players with first-team experience on the pitch and Luton only had three and yet they outplayed us.

“No disrespect to Luton, but we shouldn’t be losing 3-0 to them. I want selection problems, but I’m not sure I was given any by that performance.”
