Scott Rendell, Lathaniel Rowe-Turner and Arnuad Mendy were all trying their luck elsewhere on Tuesday night as the Hatters romped to a 4-0 friendly victory at near neighbours Hitchin Town.

Still said: “Scott Rendell has gone down to have a couple of days at Torquay and Rowe-Turner played for Burton this evening. So we will get an update on that.

“Mendy I’ve let go back to France to see if there is something there for him.”

Rendell featured for 58 minutes as Torquay United beat Yeovil 2-0 and Rowe-Turner played the full game for Burton Albion as they were held to a goalless draw at Nuneaton.

Still is continuing to cast his eye over a couple of hopefuls himself and, although former Dundee and Falkirk striker Mark Stewart didn’t figure on Tuesday night, he remains on trial.

Town also looked at former Lincoln City and Birmingham City centre-half Graham Hutchison, 20, who played in Luton’s Bedfordshire Premier Cup penalty shoot-out victory at Biggleswade Town on Monday night.

Still continued: “The lad Hutchison I had him down at my former club Dagenham for a little while, unfortunately he got injured so I thought we’d take the opportunity to have a look here.

“He’s done OK, he’s been training. We’ll keep looking but I’m not jumping into anything at the moment.”

Meanwhile, former Hatters Amari Morgan-Smith and Stuart Fleetwood were also seeking new deals as Morgan-Smith impressed during his 87 minutes for Mansfield Town in their 1-0 win at Chester FC, while Fleetwood played 66 minutes as Alfreton were thrashed 6-0 by Walsall.

Giant 27-year-old Hungarian defender Janos Kovacs is looking for a move back to his homeland too and is currently training with Hungarian champions Gyori ETO FC.

He said: “I’ve already confirmed that a team from the Scottish top flight are interested in me. I’m fortunate that there have been further offers since then.

“It is true that I have spent most of my career in England - the atmosphere is wonderful but now I feel like I would like to play in Hungary, if possible.

“I want to go home because of my family, my friends and also because I like what has happened in Hungarian football over the last few years.”
