Hatters snap up Wycombe striker Rendell

LUTON Town have made their third signing of the summer with the capture of Wycombe Wanderers forward Scott Rendell for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old striker, who penned a two-year deal, has been reunited with Hatters boss Paul Buckle after the Town manager signed Rendell on loan when in charge of League Two Torquay back in July 2009.

Whilst at the Gulls, Rendell scored 13 goals in all competitions, prompting Buckle to move for his signature once more.

The forward, who began his career at Aldershot, had spells at Crawley, Cambridge United and Forest Green.

He netted 17 goals in 23 starts at the Abbey Stadium, persuading Peterborough to splash out £115,000 for his services after a successful loan spell.

He never fully settled at London Road though and was sent on loan to Yeovil and Cambridge again, before moving to join Buckle at Torquay.

He left Peterborough after agreeing a permanent switch to Wycombe in July 2010 and scored 16 goals as they won promotion from League One, but found chances harder to come by this year.

After featuring only nine times for the Chairboys this campaign, he went out on loan to Bristol Rovers where he failed to net, and then Oxford United, scoring three goals in 15 games.
