Hatters snap up Swansea City youngster

Luton Town have completed the loan signing of Jernade Meade from Premier League Swansea City, subject to international clearance.

The 21-year-old former Arsenal man, who was born in Luton and went to Barnfield Academy, has agreed a deal at Kenilworth Road until the end of the season.

Meade, who can play left wing and left back, joined Arsenal as an 11-year-old and made his debut for the Gunners as a substitute in their 7-5 League Cup victory over Reading last season.

He was then given his full debut by Arsene Wenger in the Champions League at Olympiacos, as the Gunners went down 2-1, with Meade replaced by Martin Angha on 83 minutes.

After his contract at the Emirates Stadium expired in the summer, he moved to Wales and has been a regular for the Swans’ U21 squad.

Boss John Still told the club’s official website: “He’s from Luton and that’s been a big pull.

“It’s an area he knows well and I think it will give him the chance to reproduce his best form.

“Sometimes in life you get the perfect fit, and I think that’s the case for Jernade and for us.”

Meanwhile, Meade added: “It’s great to be back at Luton. The team are doing very well and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.”
