Jonathan Smith: 6.5 - Ran himself ragged in the middle as he won plenty of possession for the Hatters.

Steve McNulty: 6.5 - Uncompromising defender put in a battling performance and made a number of key interventions.

Jake Howells: 6.5 - Put in another accomplished performance as he filled in well at full-back.

Mark Cullen: 6.5 - Unlucky to see a great effort skim the post in an attritional first half, while his clever football brain opened the Wings up several times in the second.

Andy Parry: 6.5 - Deputised well at right-back and, although he failed to track his runner for the second goal, his great cross created Luton’s goal and his low drive brought the best out of Butcher.

David Martin: 4 - One good corner, but was hardly in the action at all otherwise and was substituted after being given a rare opportunity to impress.

Luke Guttridge: 6 - Missed a glaring open goal in the first half and was not his usual omnipresent self.

Paul Benson: 7.5 - Led the line superbly and was the fulcrum for most of Luton’s best play.

Jim Stevenson: 5.5 - Far too quiet throughout but did improve as the game went on and whistled one effort just wide.

Alex Lacey: 6 - Too easily outmuscled for Welling’s opener but has become a force to be reckoned with in the air.

Alex Lawless (sub): 6 - At the centre of almost all of the late action as several half chances failed to fall his way while seeing a great late chance well saved.

JJ O’Donnell (sub): 6 - Gave the Hatters a real threat on the left and almost made something happen.

Zane Banton (sub): 6 - Bright and hungry during his brief spell and almost snatched Luton a late leveller.
