Hatters rated v Southport
Lathaniel Rowe-Turner: 6 – Applied himself well despite being put on the transfer list, but did almost gift Southport an equaliser with a dreadful missed clearance in the second half.
Alex Lawless: 7 – Class act on the ball, missed one gilt-edged opportunity but Luton are a better team with him in it.

Hide AdJon Shaw: 6 – Passed up a couple of decent chances, but enables the players on either side of him to make an impact.
David Martin: 6.5 – Pace and trickery was too much for the Sandgrounders’ backline on a number of occasions needed a little more end product.
Matt Robinson: 7.5 – Youngster is really coming of age as he put in another effective performance, netting his first senior goal and creating Gray’s first.
Jonathan Smith: 6 – Has suffered from playing at right-back at the end of the season, but has taken one for the team by doing it.

Hide AdAndre Gray: 8 – Town’s main danger man didn’t give Southport a minute’s peace, scoring two good goal and forcing two other good stops.
Jake Goodman: 7 – One of his best games in a Luton shirt and rose to the challenge of anchoring the defence without McNulty.
Solomon Taiwo: 6 – Plenty of quality on the ball and could be a real linchpin of the side if he can get more involved.
Scott Griffiths: 6.5 – Looking fitter with every passing game and looks like he could be a regular at the back next term.

Hide AdSimon Ainge (sub): 6 – Solid enough but gave away too many silly and needless free-kicks.
Jake Howells (sub): 6 – Showed real purpose during his cameo and promisingly linked well with Griffiths on the left.
Alex Wall (sub): 6 – Introduction caused Southport plenty of problems, but needs more faith in his own ability when given a sight of goal.
