Hatters play down Cullen injury worry

Town boss John Still wasn’t overly concerned by striker Mark Cullen’s injury picked up against Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, writes Mike Simmonds.

The summer signing from Hull City opened the scoring with his second goal of the pre-season campaign on three minutes, before being forced off after 37 minutes.

Still said: “He just hurt his ankle and there was a little bit of a twist as well.

“I don’t think it’s anything terrible, but there was no need for him to stay on.”

Midfielder Alex Lawless and defender Danny Fitzsimons are the only Hatters players without minutes under their belt so far as Still added: “Alex Lawless is the main one, although Alex Wall has had a little bit of a virus recently.

“I think we’re in decent shape at the moment and by the time the season starts, Alex will be training and not far off playing hopefully.”
