Hatters make history but promotion remains the key

Breaking Town’s long-standing league unbeaten record will be lost in the annals if Luton don’t secure promotion this season according to striker Andre Gray, writes Mark Wood.

Luton’s 3-0 home win over Nuneaton Town on Saturday made it 20 league games without defeat this season, as they broke a benchmark dating back to the 1960s.

Gray said: “It’s obviously good, but it only matters at the end of the season really. We could do that now and if we don’t get promoted no-one remembers that.”

Returning winger David Martin was pleased with the milestone, but his focus remains fixed on the future.

He added: “It’s always good to be breaking records, but at the end of the day we need to keep winning our games regardless of what the records are.”
