Hatters lose out to Gillingham

Luton Town fell to a 4-2 defeat against League Two Gillingham in a development match this afternoon, despite leading twice.

Hatters opened the scoring on 12 minutes when JJ O’Donnell curled a free kick into the area and young striker Jemale McKenzie-Lowe glanced his header into the net.

Town keeper Dean Brill denied Aaron Millbank, but Gills levelled when Jack Parter set up Millbank to slot home.

After the break, Luton were back in front when Matt Robinson fired a dipping volley past Luke Nalder from the edge of the area.

Gillingham equalised on 73 minutes when Jake Hessenthaler’s throw found Millbank and he teed up Nathan Nyafil to score.

The hosts went ahead for the first time with six minutes remaining as Nyafli bagged his second, before Alfie Coates completed the turnaround late on.
