Hatters hope to be four-some at Rovers as players return

Town have a number of walking wounded following Saturday’s bruising 1-1 draw against York City in the FA Trophy, but the cup-tied trio Andre Boucaud, Godfrey Poku and Craig McAllister are all back in the reckoning as is creative midfielder John Paul Kissock after serving his three-match ban for his sending off at Wrexham earlier this month.

Manager Gary Brabin said: “It’s still frustrating. Again there will be one or two this morning that won’t be training from Saturday’s game.

“We’ve got to patch one or two up and see how they feel over the next 24 hours or so but there’s a couple we will have to see how they are after tonight.

“We are used to it now, what we’re having to do, and it’s good we’ve got the lads back who have been cup-tied.

“It’s been a bit stop-start for them and we will have them back in the reckoning, so again it’s another plus for me.

“The squad’s going to be strong hereon in with those lads who have been cup-tied.”

Attacker Aaron O’Connor is also back in the mix after missing recent games, but he was only named on the bench for the weekend’s game.

Brabin continued: “Aaron was on the bench, he only trained on the Friday. He only had one day’s training and was on the bench and I thought that was a big plus for us.”

On the challenge posed by Rovers, Brabin said: “They were another team that showed a bit of ambition to go for it early doors. They’ve probably been similar to us in terms they’ve had a couple of injuries which might have set them back.

“They’ve had some good results this season. It’s always a tough place to go, but I keep saying it, it’s about us.

“We go there, we certainly won’t be deflated from Saturday’s performance. Yes we haven’t got to Wembley but there were certainly a lot of pluses, it was a good performance from the lads and we will take that into Tuesday and I’m more than confident we can get a result.”

Brabin though admitted that Town’s away form was a cause for concern, but remains confident in what the Hatters are doing.

He added: “It is in terms of the results. But we are still hard to beat.

“I know we’ve had a couple of disappointing defeats but we are still a hard team to beat.

“We go into every game trying to win. You go to some away grounds and they aren’t going to make it easy for you, everyone is up for the fight when Luton come to town.

“If people are disappointed with results after people have got a home draw against us it speaks volumes for it.

“We are more than confident we are good enough. We know where we need to improve. We are going to dust ourselves down.

“After being so close to Wembley everyone was hurting after Saturday but we are back in training today and the first thing we are going to try and do is get everyone back into good spirits and focused on tomorrow night’s game.

“It’s a tough league as we are finding out. There’s a lot of surprises, a lot was made when we played Bath a couple of weeks ago who are the form side at the moment and have had some good wins.

“That’s the way it is. We are expecting a tough game Tuesday, regardless of what other teams are doing or however we are doing against other sides, it’s always been about us. That’s still the case.”
