The U’s faltered to a 1-0 defeat at lowly Hereford United and, although they still have a game in hand, ex-Town chief Richard Money’s side showed they are as fallible as any other side in the division.
Cambridge’s result was met with a giant cheer from the Kenilworth Road faithful following the conclusion of Saturday’s game.
On-loan Port Vale defender Joe Davis admitted: “We heard the result at the end and there was a bit of a roar. It’s nice that they’re slipping up, I’m not going to lie.
“But we’ll keep doing what we can do, we don’t need to focus on them, we just to keep winning games and I’m sure they’ll slip up and just keep going for us.”
