Hatters duo win England C call-up

Paul Fairclough’s men will travel to Amman as part of the hosts’ preparation for their 2016 Olympic Games Qualifying tournament

Speaking before the announcement, Fairclough said: “This is yet another fantastic opportunity for the players and staff to experience a different culture.

“It will be important that the travelling squad are given the opportunity to perceive and experience the rich heritage.”

Jordan’s national team is currently ranked 65th in the FIFA World rankings and the Three Lions will be going into the unknown somewhat as Fairclough said “We do not know what to expect in terms of style and method, but that is not new for the England C team.

“Football has a universal language and the fixture will be played with enthusiasm and respect.

“It will be perfect in assisting me with preparation for our all-important International Challenge Trophy clash against Slovakia in May.”

The General Secretary of the Jordan FA, Khalil H. Al Salem is looking forward to the visit of the England team and to forging closer links between the two associations.

He added: “I would like to hope that this is the first positive step towards more systematic national team exchanges in the future, for our men’s and women’s teams alike.”
