Hatters boss understands Ruddock Mpanzu recall

Town boss John Still had no qualms with West Ham United after they decided to recall Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu at short notice on Monday, writes Mike Simmonds.

Although the Hammers made the decision due to a defensive crisis, the 20-year-old didn’t feature during their 2-1 Premier League defeat at Fulham this afternoon, but Still said: “In fairness to West Ham, they’ve been fantastic.

“I saw the last game they played when they drew at home to West Brom, they had two full backs playing centre half.

“Pelly plays centre half there for them a lot, they have to safeguard themselves, I understand that.

“If they had everyone fit and nothing had changed and they brought him back to play development games, I’d be a bit disappointed, but West Ham have been fantastic they really have.”

Now the transfer window is open once more, Still confirmed he might try to re-sign the impressive youngster, or look elsewhere as he added: “With Jonathan (Smith) missing and Pelly going back, we’ve got couple of things in mind we shall try to do.

“It (Ruddock Mpanzu) maybe something we revisit after this festive period.”
