The Lambs captain scored twice last weekend against the Hatters in their 4-3 defeat and Still admitted he was disappointed he had been unable to secure the 28-year-old’s signature.

He said: “It would be very unfair on him to talk about something that he might think is personal. We just couldn’t make it happen.”

But he wishes he had been able to, adding: “I knew it, I knew I should have signed him. There you have a classic example, there is a fella that wanted to come here and we couldn’t make it happen and he’s showed us what he could bring.

“Not just from the two goals but from launching that ball into our box from the long throws as well.”
