Hatters boss expecting selection poser after Red Dragons are slain

Despite Hatters making 10 changes, compared to the Red Dragons’ two, there was no questioning who was the dominant force throughout the 90 minutes at Kenilworth Road.

Still said: “Someone asked me the question, would I expect anyone to be knocking on my door and the answer to that is 100 per cent yes.

“I’d be disappointed if one, two three, four, five, even six didn’t say, what more could I do?

“What it does, is it reminds people who have a shirt in the first team how hard they’ve got to work to keep it. It reminds them, people are bashing the door down now.

“Lots of these people will be around it between now and Christmas and the fantastic feeling for me is that the squad is so strong, but the age of it is young. The key is it’s going to get better.”

Hatters were sent on their way by striker Mark Cullen’s sixth goal of the season as he arched his back to head Shaun Whalley’s corner over Andy Coughlin.

Still added: “It was a great header, it really was. Cully for his size has scored most of his goals with his head.

“He’s great in the air and I was really pleased as not only did he score the goal, he played slightly wider and I thought he was oustanding.”

Forward Alex Wall also got through 85 minutes after finally returning to full fitness and saw a second half strike disallowed for offside.

Still added: “I was really pleased with Alex, he’s got so much pace and power.

“He’s nowhere near fit yet, but what a handful he’s going to be when we get a few more games into him.

“I thought every time we went forward, we looked like we were going to create something.”
