Hatters boss can’t wait for Shaw debut

STRIKER Jon Shaw’s long-awaited Town debut is being eagerly anticipated by boss Paul Buckle, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 28-year-old has been a spectator at all of Luton’s pre-season matches so far, while he makes a full recovery from a hernia operation undertaken in the summer.

Although Buckle can’t wait to see Shaw return after the forward bagged 35 goals for Gateshead last season, he told the News/Gazette he won’t be taking any unnecessary risks.

Meanwhile, midfielder Danny Spiller is also yet to taste first team action after joining on a free transfer from Gillingham.

Goalkeeper Mark Tyler was fit enough to make the bench on Monday night, but defender Alex Lacey is out for a few weeks with a shoulder injury.
