The pair were introduced when Hatters were level at 1-1 and struggling to look like they were going to find a way past their impressive opponents.

But Guttridge had a huge hand in Andre Gray’s decider, while Robinson put in a decisive display to shore up the midfielder as Harris said: “When Luke came on he changed the game, he sat behind Paul Benson and started to pull the strings.

“Matt Robinson came on and did ever so well too.

“We had got off to a good start, went 1-0 up and had the opportunity to go 2-0 with Paul (Benson) and he put it past the post.

“After that for an hour or so, I thought they were the better side than us, I have to be honest.

“But we made a few changes, we brought Luke behind the front two and I thought for last 20 minutes we were in the ascendancy, so I was absolutely delighted to get the second goal.”

Town had made two changes for the clash, bringing in Jim Stevenson and Shaun Whalley for Guttridge and the suspended Jonathan Smith, changing back to a 4-4-2.

Harris conceded it was once they reverted to a 4-3-3 in the second period that they started to finally get on top as he continued: “Being at home, we really just wanted to go as a 4-4-2 and get at the full backs.

“We know what Welling bring to games and just wanted to make sure we attacked them.

“Their shape was causing us a problem. They set the one man in front of the back four and he was causing us a problem, so we had to change it.

“We put a man on him and went three up front and maybe that stemmed the tide.”

Town’s man of the moment once more was striker Andre Gray, who pounced for his eighth and ninth goals of the campaign.

His partnership with Paul Benson is looking more and more menacing with each game as Harris added: “He is (in good form) and I think part of it is being with Paul Benson.

“He enjoys playing with Paul, they make a good pairing upfront and Andre is picking up the pieces off of Paul.

“We do finishing every day and Andre can be anything he wants to be. He’s got power, he’s got strength and there are still things that he has to work on too.”
