The 20-year-old has been a huge hit since arriving from Upton Park with his powerhouse displays from midfield during his seven appearances.

But parent club West Ham have decided to take him back due to injuries within their squad.

Prior to the news, Hatters had been hopeful of keepoing hold of the player, whose loan spell ran out on January 4.

First team coach Hakan Hayrettin said: “Pelly’s driven this team on when we’ve got the ball.

“It’s important that when he hasn’t got the ball that he’s done his duty as well and for that we only thank West Ham for giving him the opportunity to play for us.

“I know behind the scenes the officials are trying to sort something out, so let’s hope he’s here for a little while longer and he’s a great addition to our football team.”

Worryingly, Ruddock Mpanzu was subsituted due to a knee injury during Town’s 6-0 batter of Kidderminster on Saturday, but Hayrettin remained confident it was nothing serious.

He added: “I think Pelly has just tweaked his knee. More so because we’ve had so many games in short succession, it’s very important that we try and protect our players and he’s been a credit to West Ham.”
