The summer signing from Northampton was stretchered off during Town’s 3-0 win over Alfreton on Saturday with an ankle injury.

Boss John Still said: “Luke Guttridge came off injured, we don’t know exactly yet the damage to his ankle, but I think we’ll know a bit more probably on Monday, Tuesday.

“He won’t play Saturday, but we don’t know 100 per cent at the moment.”

Guttridge has been one of the stand out players for Luton this season, scoring 13 goals, with four coming in his last three matches.

Still is confident his side can cope during his absence though as he said: “We have good players here. Alex Lawless is a good player, Matt Robinson is a good player, so I’m not particularly fazed by it.

“We managed to overcome the injury to Jonathan Smith, to Alex Lacey, to Andy Parry, so we’ll find a way of doing it on Saturday without Luke.”

The boss did also confirm that all three of his players who went away on international duty, Andre Gray, Fraser Franks and Cameron McGeehan had returned unscathed, adding: “Both (Franks and Gray) came back today as did Cameron who also represented his country at U21 level, all with no problems.

“We could look at lots of our younger players and think they’ve done particularly well this year.

“It’s always nice when people get recognition, individually or club, so good for them and good for us, I’m quite proud actually.”
