Groundbreaking hub looks to start up new Luton Town academy

GROUNDBREAKING Luton are looking to extend their innovative project at Cedars Upper School and open a full academy that will cater for U13s upwards, writes Mark Wood.

Rather than just sixth form students, the project would enable both the school and the Hatters to work with pupils in Year 8 onwards.

The academy would see youngsters from middle schools across the area attend the Leighton Buzzard hub, with its influence stretching as far as the edge of Dunstable.

Head of youth Gregg Broughton said: “This would allow us to provide very clear pathways for progression for all young footballers living in and around Leighton Buzzard to follow in the footsteps of Kelvin Davis and Jerry Nash through to our first team.”
