The Hatters had kept eight clean sheets in their opening 12 games, before shipping six goals in two matches last week.

Their quest for another shutout on Saturday, against a Hyde team who hadn’t scored in 11 hours, was ended by Steve McNulty’s own goal, but Griffiths said: “It’s always extremely disappointing not to keep a clean sheet.

“We need to find a way to seal that up. Unfortunately, it was a mistake, you can’t really coach that out.

“I’m sure we’ll work hard on it in training though as the work he (John Still) makes us do is extremely hard.”

Griffiths, who signed a new deal with Town in the summer, has begun the first 15 games of the campaign.

He is relishing pinning down a starting berth and the different role he is being asked to play, with Hatters not picking a genuine left winger at times.
