With just nine minutes remaining, the full-back unleashed a spanking drive that looked destined for the net, until it was diverted away by team-mate Mark Cullen.

Griffiths said: “I’m a bit disappointed we didn’t nick three points as they made some great blocks and so did we in the shape of Cully!

“I was almost celebrating, I was ready to run off and go crazy.

“Afterwards, I said to Mark, why are you trying to get in the way of my shot?

“He said, he opened his eyes and he was on the floor looking up and thinking what was going on?”

Griffiths was praised by boss John Still for his performance at the weekend as the boss added: “I thought Scott Griffiths was outstanding. He’s showing the player that I know he is, he’s been terriic the last few games and back to the form that we know he’s capable of.

“I’m pleased for us and pleased for him.”
