Gray’s delight and pure ‘devastation’ after Wembley strike

DEVASTATION followed a dream start for Andre Gray on Sunday as the joy of his Wembley opener was overtaken by the heartbreak of play-off final defeat to York, writes Mark Wood.

Netting at the home of English football had put the 20-year-old striker in wonderland, but defeat was hard to take for the former Hinckley man who joined Town permanently on Monday after netting seven goals in 12 games.

He said: “I would rather it had been the last minute than the first minute.

“It was the best feeling in the world, I used to dream about scoring at Wembley, but I’m devastated it wasn’t the winner.”
