The 21-year-old striker signed a one-year contract extension during the season and has no desire to leave the club.

He said: “Of course I’m happy here, I wouldn’t have signed an extra year on my contract if I wasn’t happy and hopefully the gaffer is happy with me as well and we can go and do it next year.

“It’s going to be a massive year for us next year. We say it every year but I think we have to sort that out now and give the fans what they want and I think we need it more ourselves.

“We need to get promoted and do it automatically.”

Gray admitted he found the constant tinkering up front when John Still first took charge difficult, but that the Town boss has helped to give him a new perspective.

He said: “It was a bit frustrating at the start with every game keep changing the strikers.

“He’s going to keep changing as we’ve got Thursday/Saturday until the end of the season and we haven’t got much to play for, but he has brought a new lease of life here and his understanding of players. He knows what he wants and we know what he wants.”

Still has already made a number of changes at Kenilworth Road with a second set of players set to be told they have no future at Kenilworth Road this week after the first exodus last month.

But Gray has been taking it all in his stride, as he added: “I think we’re professionals and things like that are going to happen in football.

People are going to get released, new managers are going to come in and out and if you can’t deal with that kind of pressure you shouldn’t be playing professionally.

“I think all the boys have got on with it well and we’re understanding what the gaffer wants from us now and I think it’s just great for the start of next season.”
