Gray a doubt as Buckle hopes Telford clash beats weather

Town boss Paul Buckle admitted his concern over the fitness striker Andre Gray for the trip to AFC Telford United tomorrow night, writes Mike Simmonds.

The in-form striker has eight goals in his last 10 games, but limped off at the end of the 2-0 FA Trophy win over Skelmersdale United on Saturday after netting Town’s second.

Buckle said: “Andre got a bang, it was innocuous and I’m not sure what it is. That’s a bit of a worry for me that one. He could hardly run at the end, so we’re hopeful it’s just a spasm.”

With temperatures plummeting and snow forecast this week, there is a real chance the match could be called off for the second time, but Buckle added: “I’m hopeful that the game will go ahead. The last thing we need is the game called off.

“We’re on the right road at the moment, what we’ve got to do is stay focused. It’s going to be an exciting second half to the season and one we need to stay right in there.

“It’s going to be a battle now, especially in the winter, up north, but wherever you go, we’ve got to be ready for it.
